A compact, well-built everyday sketchbook with a grey canvas-textured hardcover and the kind of dependable paper quality that makes it a reliable companion for daily sketching, journalling, and drawing practice. The Royal & Langnickel SKTGRY series combines durability and portability in two practical sizes — 4x6 inches for genuine pocket carry and 5.5x8.5 inches for a comfortable everyday working format.

The grey canvas-textured hardcover is sturdy enough to provide a firm drawing surface when working in hand without a table, and the neutral grey gives the sketchbook a clean, contemporary appearance that suits both student and professional creative contexts. The double wire spiral binding folds completely back on itself for comfortable sketching, giving full access to the working surface and allowing the book to be held open with one hand during location work. The Royal & Langnickel logo is embossed on the cover.

Inside, 80 sheets — 160 pages — of 100gsm acid-free white paper with a light grain surface. The medium tooth grips graphite, coloured pencil, charcoal, and fine liner well, and the surface erases cleanly without feathering or damage — an important quality for a sketchbook used for iterative drawing where lines are frequently corrected and refined. The paper does not bleed through under normal dry media use, making both sides of each sheet usable.

We stock two sizes — 4x6 inches (10x15cm) for compact daily carry, and 5.5x8.5 inches (14x21.6cm) as the most versatile everyday sketching format.

What media can be used in these sketchbooks?
Pencil, graphite, coloured pencil, charcoal, fine liner, pen and ink, and ballpoint. The 100gsm paper handles dry and ink-based media well. For wet media such as watercolour or acrylic, a dedicated wet media pad is more appropriate.

Which size should I choose?
The 4x6 inch is a genuine pocket size — compact enough to carry anywhere and ideal for quick sketches, thumbnail studies, and daily journalling. The 5.5x8.5 inch gives a more generous working area suited to more developed sketches, figure drawing studies, and sustained drawing sessions. Both contain 80 sheets of identical paper.

Does the spiral binding allow the book to open flat?
Yes — the double wire spiral folds completely back on itself, allowing the book to open flat for comfortable two-handed working or to be folded back for single-handed working on location.

Is the paper acid-free?
Yes — the paper is acid-free throughout, meaning it will not yellow or deteriorate over time, making the sketchbooks suitable for finished work as well as everyday practice.
