Cyanotype Set

A 2-Part Kit for Making Blue Sun Prints on Paper and Fabric

Cyanotype is one of the oldest photographic methods, invented in 1842. It creates deep blue prints and was widely used until the 1900s as a cheap way to copy photos, documents, maps and plans (that's why architectural drawings are called "blueprints"). Scientists also used it to record plant specimens by making direct impressions.

Use sunlight to create detailed prints from any object that makes a shadow: tools, toys, plants, leaves, rocks, sand, string, lace, and more. Just place items on the treated surface and expose to sunlight. You can also use a photo negative (a reversed black and white image printed on transparency film) to make actual photographs on paper or fabric.

This process is simple, forgiving, quick, and fun - perfect for photographers, artists, printmakers, quilters, children, and anyone else. Capture every shadow detail in this enjoyable activity for all ages!

This kit contains enough chemicals to make about 65 paper prints or 50 fabric prints at 8" x 10" size.
