POSCA PC-1MR Paint Marker — 0.7mm Extra Fine

The PC-1MR is the finest-tipped marker in the POSCA range and one of the most precise paint markers available. Its defining feature is a calibrated 0.7mm tip set in a metal collar — giving it the controlled, consistent line of a technical drawing pen combined with all the surface versatility that POSCA is known for.

The paint inside is water-based, opaque, acid-free, and pigmented — not dye-based ink. This matters because it means the colour sits on the surface rather than soaking into it, making it visible on both light and dark backgrounds without the need for white undercoating. Once dry, the paint is water-resistant and lightfast, and subsequent layers of POSCA can be applied over it without smearing or bleeding through. The finish is matt. There are no solvents or alcohol in the formulation, and the markers are odourless and non-toxic.

The PC-1MR works on an enormous range of surfaces without priming — paper, card, canvas, wood, glass, ceramic, metal, plastic, stone, and fabric among them. On porous surfaces the paint adheres permanently; on smooth, non-porous surfaces such as glass it can be removed with a glass cleaner, which makes it useful for temporary marking, planning, and display work as well as permanent pieces. Paint can be sealed with a fixative or varnish for added protection.

To use, shake the marker with the cap on until the ball inside rattles, then prime the tip on scrap paper before working. The valve mechanism maintains consistent paint flow throughout the life of the marker, and the tip can be rinsed with water.

The PC-1MR is available in 16 colours and is particularly popular for fine detail work, illustration, technical drawing, comic and animation linework, portraiture, and adding precise contours or highlights to larger pieces.

What is the difference between the PC-1MR and the PC-1M? Both produce a 0.7mm line, but the PC-1MR has a firmer, calibrated tip set in a metal ring, which gives a more consistent and precise line. The PC-1M has a softer felt tip. The PC-1MR barrel is also slightly longer and slimmer. For detailed precision work, the PC-1MR is generally preferred.

Will POSCA markers work on dark surfaces? Yes. The opaque, pigment-based paint covers well on both light and dark backgrounds without any base layer needed.

Are POSCA markers permanent? On porous surfaces such as paper, wood, and fabric, yes — the paint bonds permanently. On smooth non-porous surfaces such as glass or glazed ceramic, the dried paint can be removed, which makes the PC-1MR useful for both permanent artwork and temporary applications.

Can the PC-1MR be used with other POSCA markers? Yes. All POSCA colours are intermixable when wet and can be layered once dry. The PC-1MR works naturally alongside wider-tipped POSCA markers for adding detail, outline, and fine linework to broader painted areas.

How many colours is the PC-1MR available in? 16 colours, sold individually.
