Wallace Seymour Fine Art Products — Handmade in the Yorkshire Dales

Pip Seymour and Rebecca Wallace are based near Settle in the Yorkshire Dales. Both trained painters. Both deeply opinionated about what paint should do.

They started Wallace Seymour because they wanted to make the kind of paint they actually wanted to paint with. So they did.

Their reference point was Titian. The golden age of painting. Every pigment sourced specifically — from specialist suppliers worldwide, from quarries across the north of England. Moughton Whetstone. Torridon Sandstone. Hangman's Ochre. These aren't novelty names. These are the actual pigments, from the actual places, ground by hand in small batches in Settle.

Wallace Seymour will not supply large chain stores. Deliberately. Because they believe independent art shops matter. If you want their paint, you find an independent stockist.

We stock the full range — watercolours, oils, and acrylics. Alongside Sennelier, Caran d'Ache, Daler-Rowney, Winsor and Newton, and everything else we believe in enough to put on our shelves.

Different makers. Different traditions. Different reasons to love them.

Wallace Seymour is one of those reasons.

Come in and ask us which is right for what you're making. That conversation is genuinely what we're here for.

FAQ

What is the difference between Wallace Seymour and standard artist-grade paint? Most artist-grade paints are produced in large batches with consistent, commercially optimised formulas. Wallace Seymour produces in micro-batches — often just a litre at a time — using hand-selected pigments and traditional methods. This means each batch has its own character, and the pigment load is significantly higher than typical commercial ranges.

Is Wallace Seymour suitable for beginners? Wallace Seymour is a professional-grade range. That said, many artists choose to start with quality materials from day one — it teaches you to understand how real paint behaves. If you're unsure where to begin, our staff can advise.

Do Wallace Seymour paints dry slowly? The oil colours are made without drying agents, so drying time varies by pigment. Wallace Seymour recommends adding 10–20% of their Fast Drying Oil Glaze Medium to achieve a more balanced drying time if needed.

Can I order Wallace Seymour products online? Yes — our full range is available to order via craftandcanvas.co.uk with UK-wide delivery. If you're looking for a specific colour or product not shown, contact us and we'll do our best to source it.
