Stand Oil is a modified form of Linseed Oil, produced through a special heating process in an oxygen-free, sealed vessel.
This heating triggers polymerization, resulting in a thicker consistency and enhanced elasticity compared to regular Cold Pressed or Alkali-refined Linseed Oils.
When mixed with oil paints in small amounts (10-20%), Stand Oil increases the paint's glossiness and flexibility, helping to eliminate visible brush strokes.
Unlike many other oil mediums, Stand Oil resists yellowing over time, making it particularly valuable for glazing techniques. For thinner applications, artists can mix it with either Turpentine or Shellsol T.
