Arroyo sits between fingering and DK in the Malabrigo range — a sport weight yarn in 100% superwash merino that offers the fine stitch definition of a lighter yarn with faster knitting than a true fingering weight. It is a versatile, well-constructed yarn that suits a wide range of projects and shows Malabrigo's hand-dyeing at its best.
The four-ply construction gives excellent stitch definition, making Arroyo a good choice for colourwork, cables, lace, and textured patterns where clarity of stitch matters. It also works well for straightforward stocking stitch garments and accessories where the colour itself is the focus. At 306 metres per 100g skein it goes a long way.
As a superwash merino it is machine washable, which makes it practical for garments and accessories that will be worn regularly. Lightweight jumpers, cardigans, shawls, baby garments, and accessories all suit Arroyo well.
All Malabrigo yarns are hand-dyed in small batches. We recommend purchasing all skeins for a project together and alternating between two skeins every few rows to ensure even colour distribution.
