The PC-1M is one of the most popular markers in the POSCA range — a compact, pocket-sized paint marker with a soft 0.7mm bullet tip that sits at the finest end of the POSCA family. Fine enough for writing and detail work, but with enough coverage to fill small areas and draw confidently, it is a genuinely versatile everyday marker used by artists, crafters, and designers at all levels.
Like all POSCA markers, the paint is water-based, opaque, acid-free, lightfast, and odourless — with no alcohol or solvents in the formulation. The pigmented paint sits visibly on the surface rather than soaking into it, giving solid, opaque coverage on both light and dark backgrounds. Once dry it is water-resistant, and subsequent layers of POSCA can be applied over it without smearing. While wet, colours can be blended on the surface using the tip or a brush to create gradations and mixed tones. The finish is semi-gloss.
The tip is a soft plastic bullet nib, removable and washable under the tap — a practical advantage over most fine-point markers. It works across the same enormous range of surfaces as the rest of the POSCA range: paper, card, canvas, wood, glass, ceramic, metal, plastic, stone, and fabric, among others. On porous surfaces the paint is permanent; on smooth non-porous surfaces it can be removed with an ammonia-based or glass cleaner, making it useful for temporary work as well as lasting pieces.
To use, shake with the cap on until the ball inside rattles, then prime the tip on scrap paper before starting. The PC-1M is available in 22 colours and is particularly well suited to small-format work, detailed illustration, colouring, scrapbooking, lettering, and adding precise marks or signatures to finished pieces.
What is the difference between the PC-1M and the PC-1MR? Both produce a 0.7mm line, but the tips are different. The PC-1M has a soft plastic bullet tip, which gives a slightly more expressive, responsive feel. The PC-1MR has a firmer calibrated tip set in a metal collar, which produces a more consistent, controlled line closer to a technical drawing pen. The PC-1MR barrel is also slightly longer and slimmer. For free drawing and general use the PC-1M is a natural choice; for precision linework and technical applications, the PC-1MR is preferred.
How many colours is the PC-1M available in? 22 colours, sold individually.
Can the tip be replaced? Yes. The tip is removable and can be rinsed with water. Replacement tips are also available separately.
Is the PC-1M suitable for outdoor use? Yes. Once dry, the paint is water-resistant and lightfast, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications.
Can POSCA paint be diluted? Yes. Adding water to the paint while it is wet allows for washes and softer effects. This can be done directly on the surface using a damp brush worked over the wet paint.
